L'ora del te è un momento quasi istituzionale in UK, ma ho avuto una straordinaria sorpresa quando ho scoperto come celebrano (si, è il caso di dirlo: è un'autentica celebrazione!) il te e quello che gli preparano attorno.
Se gli inglesi (ma soprattutto le inglesi) possono permettersi un pomeriggio libero da passare in compagnia daranno inizio al rito chiamato "Afternoon tea": una fioritura di prelibatezze che rendono omaggio alla loro bevanda più apprezzata. Dal dolce al salato è un alternarsi di assaggi che possono tranquillamente sostituire un pasto, tanto che alcune tea-room e hotel propongono la variante con Champagne e bollicine.
Col tempo quindi vi voglio raccontare e trasmettere ricette e idee per farcire il vostro te di inventiva. Partiamo dagli Scones, che fratellino orso ha realizzato e fotografato e che condivido più che volentieri!
Tea time is almost institutional in the UK, but my surprise was extraordinary as I discovered how they celebrate (that is how it has to be called: a veritable celebration) tea and what they prepare around "him".
If british people can afford a free afternoon they will begin the ritual called "afternoon tea": a flowering of delicacies for their favourite drink. Sweet or salted, it can easily replace a meal, some tea-rooms and hotels offer the Champagne and "bollicine" option indeed.
I'll be pleased to introduce you recipes and ideas to fill your tea with fantasy.
First of all, the Scones, that Brother Bear Little has prepared and photographed and I am more than glad to share it.
Ingredienti
4 cups di farina autolievitante
1 flaconcino di panna fresca (250 ml)
1 lattina di 7 up o sprite (355ml)
1/2 teaspoon di sale
Ingredients
4 cups self raising flour
1 vial of fresh cream (250 ml)
1 can of 7 up or sprite (355ml)
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparazione
Preriscaldate il forno a 220°C. Coprite una leccarda con carta forno.
Mescolate la farina con il sale, aggiungete la panna e amalgamate bene,
aggiungete poi il 7 up, otterrete così un composto molto colloso.
Stendete su un ripiano infarinato e tagliate dall'impasto delle fette
regolari o usate un coppa pasta. Se l'impasto dovesse risultare troppo
morbido per effettuare questa operazione, ungete leggermente le mani con
dell'olio e strappate dei pezzi di impasto direttamente dalla teglia
cercando di dare una forma regolare a ogni trancio. Disponete gli scones
sulla leccarda in modo che siano vicini gli uni agli altri. Cuocete per
15-20 minuti fino a che non risulteranno dorati in superficie.
Controllate con uno stecchino che siano cotti anche all'interno e
disponeteli poi su una griglia avvolti in uno strofinaccio pulito,
questo li lascerà morbidi più a lungo.
Una volta raffreddati (anche se io ammetto di averne assaggiato uno
ancora caldo e non vi dico che bontà) tagliateli a metà e farciteli con
marmellata o come preferite.
Qualche consiglio:
se dopo alcuni giorni gli scones si saranno induriti, basterà un breve passaggio al microonde per renderli di nuovo morbidi.
Il sapore di questi scones è molto delicato, solo leggermente dolce per
la presenza della limonata, pertanto si prestano bene anche a farciture
salate, io li ho riempiti con tonno e maionese e vi assicuro che erano
anche più buoni di quelli con la marmellata.
Preheat oven to 220 ° C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Mix the flour with the salt, add the cream and mix well, then add the 7 up, so you get a very sticky compound.
Roll out on a floured counter and cut from mixing of regular slices or use a pasta bowl. If
the dough becomes too soft to do this, lightly grease your hands with
oil and torn pieces of dough directly from the pan trying to give a
regular shape in each slice. Arrange the scones on the baking tray so that they are close to each other. Bake for 15-20 minutes until they become golden on the surface. Check
with a toothpick to be cooked inside and also then arrange them on a
grid wrapped in a clean cloth, this will leave them soft longer.
Once cooled (although I admit to having tried one yet warm and not tell
you that goodness) cut them in half and fill them with jam or whatever
you like.
Some advice:
if after a few days you will find hardened scones, just a short passage in the microwave to make them soft again.
The flavor of these scones is very delicate, slightly sweet for the
presence of lemonade, therefore lend themselves well to savory fillings,
I have them filled with tuna and mayo and I assure you that they
were also more good than those with jam
